The Paranormal Guide
Old, ugly and mean. These are words NOT used to describe me.
I was born at a very early age, when it was the best of times and the worst of times. 'Fifties London was still Dickensian, at least it was in the slum area into which I was flung from my mother's womb. The world changed that day - I went from warm, comfortable slumber, to an unwelcoming world. I was so deformed that the doctor slapped my mother. Nurses ran shrieking from the room, although to be fair, that was plausibly because my drunken uncle was chasing them.
All these years later, 62 at the moment of writing, I have been, variously: a clerk; tram conductor; hitman for the government (infantry soldier); factory worker; actor; musician; poet; student; security officer; small-business owner; reluctant Australian. I am still a poet and have degrees in: English Literature and Language; Social Anthropology; and am classed as a Doctoral Research Scholar. I would have been Dr Woods, PhD, but I tried to die and haven't completed my doctoral dissertation.
I have two ceramic heart valves and a bypass, and suffer from chronic osteoarthritis, PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder), and clinical depression. Oh, and I love Mazz's artworks and Neil Young. And my daughter, Sarah. And occasionally my ex-wife. And Rusties.
